A mile-long stretch of iconic Loch Ness has gone on the market for just £95,000 – complete with fishing rights and direct access to the legendary waters.
Dubbed ‘The Major’s Mile’, the largely untouched strip of woodland and shoreline has been owned by the same family for several generations.
The freehold land stretches for around 1.6km along the northwestern shore of Loch Ness near Abriachan on the A82.

It boasts secluded gravel beaches, natural clearings and uninterrupted access to the water.
The strip has around a mile of continuous loch frontage and is typically between 25 and 35 metres wide.
And the new owner will even be able to try their luck fishing in the waters famous for the Loch Ness Monster, as reported by Luxury Property News.
The sale includes rights to fish for salmon and sea trout from one boat on Loch Ness, as well as riparian fishing rights from the shoreline.
Steve Tipson, who is helping the owner sell the land, believes it could attract buyers looking for something more unusual than a fishing spot.
He said: “It’s very scenic and pretty – it’s a pretty part of the world.
“It would be of interest to somebody, not necessarily just an angler, but somebody who just wants to have the ownership rights of the shore of Loch Ness.
“That alone is quite prestigious, I think.”
The land sits between the Inverness-to-Fort William road and the loch, with established trees and vegetation providing a natural screen from passing traffic.
There is a shared vehicle access track at its southern boundary and a roadside lay-by beside the northern end.
The title also includes mines, metals and minerals belonging to the property, alongside native parsonage and vicarage teinds.
However, the sale does not include ownership of the loch bed, which is not expressly included in the modern title.
The property is being sold with vacant possession.
And any potential buyer hoping to spot Nessie could be in luck after a flurry of reported encounters this year.
A local sailor claimed to have spotted what looked like a “large oversized crocodile head” while sailing on the loch on 25 July.
The encounter became the 17th report added to the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register this year, compared with 10 during the whole of 2025.
The sailor said: “I spotted what I can only explain as a large oversized crocodile head above the water off the starboard quarter at a distance of around 100 metres.
“At the time we were about two miles west of Glenmoriston, sea state was slight and visibility good. Our position was in the middle of the loch with the head sighting between us and the north shore.
“The head quickly disappeared before I could get a photo, as it took me a few minutes to process what I was seeing. We made it into Fort Augustus safely with no further sightings.”
