A Cold War-era underground nuclear bunker in Norfolk is up for sale, offering a rare piece of history for just £10,000. Built to withstand radiation, it will be auctioned in November.

An underground nuclear bunker built at the height of the Cold War has been put up for sale for just £10,000.

From the outside it looks like just a full rocks in a field.

The installation was designed to withstand radiation and was fully equipped with radiological instruments.

It was one of a series built by the Ministry of Defence during the 1950s and 1960s when the threat of nuclear war with the Soviet Union loomed.

It was meant to allow people to detect and report a nuclear attack.

The underground protective bunkers are cramped but can hold up to three observers.

Access is via a steep, vertical ladder into the subterranian interior.

Its main space is equipped with a desk.

The bunker is for sale in Repps-With-Bastwick, near Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, as reported by Luxury Property News.

Trevor Blythe auction manager at estate agent Brown&Co, said: “This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of British post-war history.

“Observation posts like the one we are selling were built to provide protective but extremely limited accommodation for three observers in the event of a nuclear attack.”

The online auction is set to open at 11am on November 12 and the bunker has a guide price of £10,000 to £20,000.
