A grand mansion once belonging to iconic film director Stanley Kubrick has hit the market – and it’s perfect for the upcoming heatwave.
The UK is expected to scorch this week, with temperatures reaching a boiling 30 degrees in the capital on Thursday.
Grabbing an ice cold beer or going for a dip is the perfect way to cool down while basking in the sunshine.

While many of us don’t have the luxury of a pool in our back garden, legendary director, Stanley Kubrick, was lucky enough to have one in his sprawling nine-bedroom mansion.

And now, it’s up for grabs – at an eye-watering £6.95m, reports Luxury Property News.
Kubrick purchased the home, located in Elstree, Hertfordshire, from the father of music mogul, Simon Cowell, in 1965 and lived there with his wife and three kids until 1979.
In its walls, the filmmaker, from New York, produced blockbuster hits such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon, and The Shining.

Set on over two acres of land, Abbots Mead is marked with a blue plaque commemorating Stanley’s residence.
The property has been extended and renovated over the years and now offers more than 7,700 sq ft of space across three floors.
Inside, the home retains many of its period features, including ornate cornices, impressive fireplaces, original doors, and high ceilings that flood the interiors with natural light.

On the ground floor, highlights include a main drawing room with a carved marble fireplace, rustic wooden floors, and double doors leading to a conservatory and study.
A formal dining room has French doors opening to the garden terrace, while a family room offers a second fireplace and access to the grounds.
The farmhouse-style kitchen comes complete with pine cabinetry, open shelving, and a suite of built-in appliances.

On the first floor, there is the principal suite, which has its own dressing room, bay window overlooking the luscious gardens, and spacious en-suite.
Three additional bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a separate studio round out the level.
Upstairs, the second floor offers five more bedrooms and ample landing space.

The gardens include a heated swimming pool, two greenhouses, a pool house with sauna, orchard, gazebo, wisteria-draped pergola and workshops.
As well as the pool, a covered terrace makes for an ideal summer retreat during the upcoming heatwave.
The estate also includes a two-bedroom apartment above a single garage and a separate property.

Known as Abbots Mead Lodge, it is a 3,200 sq ft, four-bedroom house with its own garden and private entrance.
The home has been dubbed a “rare find” by Savills Rickmansworth, the listing agent for the property.
