The 400-year-old building is Grade II Listed.

It used to be an office but has now been turned into a huge family home and is called Armada House.

It was built with timber from the infamous fleet of galleons defeated by Sir Francis Drake, it’s understood.

A plaster relief showing a 16th-century ship can even be found on the side of the property.

The building – originally named Garsett House – got the moniker after previous owner Robert Garsett in 1570.

It has had numerous uses over the years.

It was a school in 1864 and was once owned by Ernest Kent, a solicitor who on his deathbed bequeathed the property to the Norfolk and Norwich Archaeological Society.

Built 435 years ago under the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, the unusual property is in Norwich, Norfolk.

In its more recent history, it was used as an office by a local company and housed more than 20 employees with six separate offices, as reported by Luxury Property News.

It has since undergone refurbishment and has been turned into a family home.

The property is going under the hammer at Auction House East Anglia as a vacant freehold and could be converted to residential use if given consent.

The listing reads: “The property is also known as Armada House as it was believed to be partly built from timbers of the sunken Spanish Armada.

“The story is emphasised by the date 1589 carved on the exterior, and a plaster relief carving of a 16th-century ship under sail on the Princes Street side of the building.

“Although there has been a property on the site since the 14th century the name Garsett House presumably comes from a previous owner Robert Garsett in 1570.

It has a guide price of £350,000 to £400,000 and the auction is being held at 11 am on December 11.
