An iconic Hollywood home dating back to post WWII known as ‘Case Study House #16′ has gone up for sale at $5.4m.
The stunning property was built in 1953 to help combat the housing shortage.
When World War II ended and troops were returning home, it was the start of the baby boom.

And so designer Craig Ellwood got to work creating a simple, affordable abodes for soliders to settle in.

The ‘Case Study Houses’ were numbered from one to 28 including two apartments.
They were built from 1945 sporadically through 1966, as reported by Luxury Property News.
Thirteen were never built, and from the ones that were, at least three were later demolished.

Since then, a few of the remaining properties have been renovated and well lived-in.
It’s believed that they rarely come up for sale, though.
And when they do, the homes are usually snapped up by aficionados almost as quickly as the listing goes live.

‘Case Study House #16’ as it’s known is listed for an eye-watering $5.4m.
The 1,664 sqft home comes with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
It boasts floor-to-ceiling windows to truly enjoy the picturesque views over Hollywood and makes the space feel twice the size.

The living room has a dramatic stone fireplace set into the glass wall that extends beyond into a terraced area.
It also leads into the open-plan kitchen and dining room, with oak cupboards, white worktops and 1950s household appliances.
It is located in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California, US, and is close to amenities including supermarkets, restaurants and cafés
The property, which features on Top Ten Real Estate Deals, is currently available with Veronika Sznajder from Crosby Doe Associates for $5.4 million.
