A property claimed to be the ‘world’s smallest holiday home‘ is open for bookings in a tiny village that has just 370 residents.
Marita Hannemann-Moos and her husband Andreas Moos lived across from a disused brick house when they decided to give it a new lease of life.
According to local press, the property’s energy supplier wanted to demolish it.

Marita and Andreas, both aged 48, – who already had two other holiday apartments – found the worn-out transformer house for sale at just £1.

They have spent four years creating their tiny holiday home, which measures just 11 sq ft across two floors.
Although the pair spent just a quid to buy their home, they shelled out £161,000 for the transformation, as reported by Luxury Property News.

This included £44,000 in subsidies and £117,000 in renovations costs.
They are now vying for a Guinness World Record and believe the holiday home is the smallest of its kind across the globe.

Inside, the ground floor has a compact bathroom, complete with a shower and underfloor heating.
Guests are provided a hairdryer and soap.

Meanwhile, an external staircase leads to the kitchen, which boasts a kettle, sink, microwave, and small stove, as well as a mini combi fridge-freezer.
There is also a table and two chairs tucked away beside one of the windows, and a sofa that extends into a bed.

Guests can expect to “sleep with a view of the stars, thanks to the glass roof”.
Priced at £92 per night, the miniature holiday home can be found in the village of Rieps, a municipality in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.

The village has just 370 residents, according to the website Places In Germany.
Marita and Andreas hope to welcome their first bookings soon.
