A couple has transformed their garden into a McDonald’s playground for their kids after finding the equipment on eBay.

Maggie Brennan, 36, and her husband Kieron, 38, came across the playground kit online and decided it would be a perfect addition to their home.

The couple fondly remembered playing on similar structures during childhood visits to McDonald’s and wanted to recreate that joy for their own children.

In particular, Maggie was eager to create something special for their eldest daughter Murphy’s first birthday, a significant milestone after nearly three years of trying to conceive.

Residing in Darley, northwest of Melbourne, Australia, the Brennans spent £2,600 (AUS $5,000) on the playground setup.

Over time, they’ve transformed their garden into a neighborhood hotspot, adding a playhouse, skate park, basketball court, AstroTurf, and shaded areas to complement the McDonald’s playground.

Keiron and his father assembled the playground, crafting a dream garden where their children, Murphy and Billie, can create lasting memories.

Maggie Brennan, a tattoo artist, shared with Luxury Property News: “We initially planned to get a playground from the local hardware store, but when we found the McDonald’s one, we decided to splurge because it was so unique. We got it for $5,000 in 2021, which was quite a bargain considering new ones can cost up to $40,000.”

She continued, “We wanted something really special for Murphy’s first birthday. It took us over three years to get pregnant, so it was a huge milestone for us. Both kids and adults enjoy playing in it.

When it gets too hot, we turn the slide into a waterslide by adding a hose. I have fond memories of playing outside with my family, and I wanted my kids to have similar experiences.

Our goal was to create a fun backyard where they could escape technology and enjoy the outdoors.”
