The childhood home of Britain’s first heavyweight world champion boxer has gone up for sale.
Bob Fitzsimmons was actually born in the Grade II listed two-bedroom terraced cottage too.
A large blue plaque on the house’s front commemorates his historic legacy.
Born on May 26, 1863 he was the youngest of 12 children.

His father, James, was a borough constable and Fitzsimmons attended school locally before the family emigrated to New Zealand when he was ten.
Fitzsimmons became World Heavyweight Champion in 1896 with a victory in Texas.

Now the cosy cottage where his life began in Helston, Cornwall is for sale as reported by Luxury Property News.

Its listing says: “Nestled within easy reach of the town centre, schools, and a supermarket is this Grade II listed terraced cottage, which beautifully balances traditional character with modern updates.

“As you enter, you’re welcomed into a light and airy open-plan lounge/diner, an ideal space for socialising with family and friends.

“Granite steps lead you to the modern kitchen and bathroom, where sleek design meets functionality.

“Upstairs, you’ll find two generously sized double bedrooms, offering comfort and built in storage.
“One of the standout features of this cottage is its delightful garden.

“Despite its central location, the garden provides a serene retreat.
“Follow the path to find a sizable, enclosed garden, mainly laid to lawn-a perfect spot for relaxation or outdoor activities.

“Additionally, a large shed offers generous storage space.
