A “ready for the apocalypse bunker” has gone on the market for just £23,000 in Cornwall –almost half of the previous asking price.
Currently used as a holiday let, the former pumping station is situated within the popular coastal town of Penzance.
Last summer, Luxury Property News reported that the property had gone on the market for just £45,000 – and it has recently had that price slashed in half.

A small door built into a wall enters into a compact micro-home, complete with kitchenette, a humble dining space, sleeping quarters and separate bathroom.

With wooden walls and industrial themed décor, as well as its hole-in-the-wall appearance, social media users have likened the home to a bunker.

“Get ready for the apocalypse,” one viewer joked.
“Weirdly love this,” said another fan.

Someone else commented: “It’s as if someone built a sauna in a nuclear bunker. That’s one way to welcome the apocalypse.”
Another person called the property, which has mains water, electric and drainage, a “unique bunker”.

“Love it! With a bit of work that could be a cozy hobbit hole on the inside!” wrote someone else.

While it was used as a holiday let, the listing – featured on Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers – states that previous planning application for continued use of the station as a holiday let was refused by Cornwall Council, meaning the new owner will need to re-apply if they wish.

The listing adds: “Documentation including information relating to the appeal will be available within the legal documentation and all interested applicants are advised to make themselves aware of the situation.”

The auction ends on 20 March, with the current minimum opening bid at £23,000.
