The Grade II Listed castle is located in Tunstall, near Lancaster, Lancs.

On the market is ‘The Viking Wing’, offering a daily step into English history alongside 21st-century “luxury”.
It includes access to a tennis court, cinema room, library, and a wine cellar located in the original dungeons.

The four-bed property forms part of the main castle – and boasts three bathrooms and two reception rooms.
There is an entrance hall with a turning staircase, floor to ceiling windows, and french doors opening onto ten acres of landscaped gardens and parkland, as reported on Luxury Property News.

Set securely behind automatic gates, the three-floored home features a tree-lined driveway, moated bridge, archway with gas-fired flaming torches, and an arrival courtyard.
The listing for the 4,036 sq ft property describes a range of medieval period features including vaulted ceilings, exposed oak beams, stained glass windows and stone walls.
“As well as remote controlled heating, and integrated sound systems in most rooms.

Thurland Castle is situated between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Originally built as a medieval manor house, it was later fortified by a circular moat – it remains a National Heritage site.
With a steep and varied history, the Carnforth castle was home to the Tunstall family from the 15th-17th century.

Under its next owners it was besieged by Parliamentarian forces in the 17th century Civil War – and later suffered a fire under the occupation of it’s 1879 owners.
Post-fire, the property was renovated by over 100 workers over the course of five years – and was furnished with fittings from Gillows and co, whose famous furniture was notably mentioned in one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operas.

Before its most recent new chapter as a collection of exclusive residences – the property was owned by a local mining family from 1885 until the early 20th century.
Current owners, Paul Buckland and Rani Dablar have lived at The Viking since 2018.
They said: “It’s a happy home and we are certain the next owners will make just as many happy memories here as we have.”

“We have loved living at The Viking.
“It has offered the best of living and space for the best of parties, of which we have had many.
“It is also perfect to work from home with exceptionally fast connectivity.

“We’re lucky to be situated in a great local village, and it’s so easy to jump in the car and travel to the lakes at the drop of a hat.”
Sofia Da Silva, of the Savills residential sales team, said: “The Viking, which blends historic charm with modern luxury, is without a doubt one of the most exciting launches to the North West property market this year.

“And represents a rare opportunity to purchase part of a castle steeped in history.
“Nestled between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, it would be ideally suited to someone looking for a more tranquil way of life.
“With the added benefit of being on the edge of a thriving village and close to the popular market town of Kirby Lonsdale with its excellent shops and restaurants.”
