An ancient monastery that features a ‘leper room’ has gone up for sale for £275,000 – but it might need some work.
The listed 11th-century stone priory boasts four bedrooms and one bathroom in an interior that measures 288m².
The private gardens and courtyard take up 10,740m².
Hidden up a little staircase is a special feature known as the leper room, a self-contained space with a fireplace and separate entrance.

The property, known as the St. Pierre du Petit-Bournet – sometimes written ‘Petit-Embournet’- is located in the south-western French department of Dordogne.
Nestled in the leafy commune of Champagne-et-Fontaine, the former monastery is listed at around £275,847 (€318,000).
The priory of St. Pierre du Petit-Bournet in Fontaines, Périgord, sometimes called “du Petit-Embournet,” was founded in the 12th century.

At the time, it was dependent on the Abbey of Grand-Embournet in Courgeac.
The building has ornate fireplaces, arched doorways, stone floors, and hand-carved panelling.
