Historic Kinloch Hotel on the Isle of Arran, overlooking Paul McCartney’s beloved Kintyre, is for sale after 71 years. A rare chance to own a Scottish retreat.

A landmark hotel overlooking a famous beauty spot is up for sale for the first time in 71 years.

The 30-room Kinloch Hotel, perched overlooking a peninsula immortalised in song by Sir Paul McCartney, has been in the same family since 1954.

The Beatles legend wrote folk track Mull of Kintyre, which was later performed by the rock band Wings, in tribute to Kintyre and its headland, where McCartney has owned High Park Farm since 1966.

The hotel is an idyllic retreat with stunning views on the Isle of Arran in west Scotland, according to agents Smith and Clough.

Golfing is a big part of Arran and many golfing parties stay at the hotel to enjoy the seven courses on offer, with the 12 hole Shiskine Course just along the road.

In addition to general tourism, the hotel is also said to be supported very well locally and from the island in general, as well as from universities who book to explore the geological surroundings as the Highland fault cuts through the middle of the island.

Archaeological students travel to explore the many sites, stone circles and most recently a newly discovered Neolithic monument which dates from 4000 BC, the only one in the UK, located in Blackwaterfoot.

And each year the hotel holds the Kinloch Beer Festival, which is a big date in the local calendar and features a variety of beers, wines, food and music.

The freehold is marketed at offers around £2.35 million, as reported by Luxury Property News.
