A bizarre studio flat with a pod-style bed hanging from the ceiling is still on the market – despite a £20,000 price drop.
The property, in the Akenside Hill area of Newcastle upon Tyne, is a “Manhattan-style” apartment in a period building.
While much of the décor is modern and fairly neutral, one big standout feature is the bed.

Fixed to the ceiling, a large pod can be seen in the middle of the bedroom area.
To the rear, a doorway leads inside the pod, which is lined with wood and is home to a large bed.
It is unclear what prompted the odd design choice.
The flat listing previously made headlines in October 2023 after being shared online, and it remains for sale with no apparent buyer at that time.
It is currently for sale at £210,000 – £20,000 less than it hit the market for last year.
The listing, held by Living Space and featured on Luxury Property News, describes it as a “bespoke bed suspended from the ceiling”.
The listing continues: “Located on Akenside Hill, this studio apartment benefits from views of the Tyne Bridge, allocated parking, and lift access, and is offered with no onward chain.
“Well situated with access to a large range of local amenities, bars, restaurants, and transport links.
“This accommodation provides; an open plan kitchen/living area with bespoke bed and bathroom.”
